Preventing the Sexual Abuse of LGBTI People in Correctional Settings

This 2010 publication presents the comments filed on behalf of the National Center for Transgender Equality, the National Center for Lesbian Rights, the American Civil Liberties Union, the Transgender Law Center, and Lambda Legal Defense & Education Fund in support of the National Prison Rape Elimination Commissions's proposed national standards, prior to the issue of the Final Rule in 2012. The submitted comments highlight the increased vulnerability of LGBTI people in detention, express support for the specific standards, and detail recommended enhancements.
