In response to the ongoing need to provide innovative and informative resources to support PREA implementation, the PRC, in partnership with Just Detention International (JDI), has released peer education resources to enhance existing efforts for inmate and resident education.

The PRC hosted a webinar to highlight and discuss these new resources. Tara Graham, JDI's National Program Director reviewed the new materials, highlighting topics such as how to recruit peer educators, how they are trained, and how to sustain a peer education program. LaWanda Long, PREA Coordinator with the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice; and Commander Joel Botner, Reentry Program Services Bureau at the Miami-Dade County Corrections and Rehabilitation Department shared their experiences and describe the benefits of implementing peer education programs in prisons, jails, and juvenile detention facilities.
