Instructions for PREA Site Review - Prisons and Jails
The Instructions for PREA Site Review are one of the evidence collection components of the PREA audit instrument.
The Instructions for PREA Site Review describes the areas of the facility to be reviewed; operations and practices to be observed; and questions that should be asked of staff and inmates in order to conduct a thorough site review. The site review portion of the onsite audit must include a thorough examination of the entire facility. The site review is not a casual tour of the facility. It is an active process by which the auditor observes all areas, tests critical functions, and has conversations with staff and inmates to determine whether, and the extent to which, the audited facility’s practices demonstrate compliance with the Standards.
