Evaluating the Work of SANE Programs in the Criminal Justice System: A Toolkit for Practitioners

The goal of this Toolkit is to assist sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) program staff in evaluating how their program affects the prosecution of sexual assault cases in their community. This Toolkit was developed as part of a research project on the work of SANEs in the criminal justice system. The lessons learned from that project helped inform the development of this Toolkit. However, it is important to note that legal outcomes are not the only or best way to evaluate the success of SANE programs. Patient care and crisis intervention are other outcomes that should be evaluated, but are beyond the scope of this Toolkit.
