Audit Requests for Proposals (RFPs)

If you are interested in forwarding a PREA RFP to all DOJ-certified auditors, the National PREA Resource Center (PRC) will do so on your behalf. To utilize this service, please submit a Contact Us form here. Please note, the PRC will only distribute material related to RFPs to conduct audits. The PRC will not contact all auditors or groups of auditors for any other reason.


PREA Auditor Search

Below is a list of all currently certified, previously certified, decertified, and suspended auditors. Auditor searches can be customized by location and certification status. Each PREA audit must have one lead DOJ-certified PREA auditor who is responsible for the conduct of the audit and all work products. A lead auditor can employ other DOJ-certified PREA auditors to function as secondary auditors or support staff who are not DOJ-certified auditors. However, it is important to know that auditors who have been decertified or who are on suspension may not participate in PREA audits, including as an agent of a PREA auditor. See 34 U.S.C. § 30307(e)(8)(B)(i). 

Agencies and facilities, as well as DOJ-certified PREA auditors seeking audit support staff, are strongly encouraged to check the list for the names of auditors who have been decertified and auditors who are suspended to ensure that the selected auditor and any support staff employed by the auditor are eligible to conduct a PREA audit.

Note that auditors who voluntarily surrendered their certification or were not recertified when their 3-year certification expired are still eligible to participate in an audit as an agent of a DOJ-certified PREA auditor.

Certified Auditors

If your facility or agency is seeking a DOJ-certified PREA auditor to conduct an audit, you may browse the list below to find an auditor to contact by selecting “certified” from the search menu. Additional names will be listed as pending certifications are finalized.

Auditors submitted the bio information found below. The PRC posted only those bios from certified auditors who consented and made only minor spelling, punctuation, and grammar changes.

Auditors who are Suspended

Suspended auditors include any individual whose DOJ-issued PREA auditor certification is currently suspended. The duration of a suspension is determined by DOJ’s PREA Management Office and may be extended for cause. During the period of suspension, auditors may not conduct any audits or audit-related activity, including as an agent of a PREA auditor. See 34 U.S.C. § 30307(e)(8)(B)(i). Agencies and facilities, as well as DOJ-certified PREA auditors seeking audit support staff, are strongly encouraged to use this list to ensure that the selected auditor and any support staff employed by the auditor are eligible to conduct a PREA audit. Formerly Certified Auditors

Formerly certified auditors include any individual who was formerly certified by DOJ as a PREA auditor. Reasons for no longer holding this certification include voluntary surrender of certification, not seeking recertification when the 3-year certification expires, failure to meet recertification requirements when the 3-year certification expires, failure to receive full certification status following the probationary certification period, and decertification. To comply with the requirements under 34 U.S.C. § 30307(e)(8)(B)(i), the PREA Management Office must publish the names of auditors who have been decertified, and the reason for decertification. Therefore, auditors who have been decertified by DOJ can be searched for separately from all other formerly certified auditors. Categories of Formerly Certified Auditors

  • No Longer Certified: Auditors who voluntarily surrendered their certification, were not recertified when their 3-year certification expired, or were denied full certification status following their probationary period are still eligible to participate in an audit as an agent of a DOJ-certified PREA auditor. To see the list of auditors who are no longer certified due to voluntarily surrendering their certification, not seeking recertification when the 3-year certification expires, failing to meet recertification requirements when the 3-year certification expires, or failing to receive full certification status following the probationary certification period, select “No Longer Certified” from the search menu. 

  • Decertified Auditors: Pursuant to the requirements under 34 U.S.C. § 30307(e)(8)(B)(i), the PREA Management Office must publish the names of auditors who have been decertified, and the reason for decertification. This information can be viewed by selecting “Decertified” from the search menu. It is important to know that auditors who have been decertified may not participate in PREA audits, including as an agent of a PREA auditor. See 34 U.S.C. § 30307(e)(8)(B)(i). Brandy is the manager of Accreditation and Compliance for Travis County Juvenile Probation Department in Austin, Texas. She is the department’s designated PREA coordinator, lead investigator and policy coordinator. Brandy has 20 years of experience in the juvenile justice field and has served in various capacities, including juvenile detention officer, training and education coordinator, administrative supervisor, and compliance officer.

She accepted the position of director in 2011 following her retirement from the CALEA Accredited Newport News Police Department after 25 years of service. She also serves as a lieutenant commander, naval intelligence officer, in the US Navy Reserve.

John is currently the PREA coordinator for the South Carolina Department of Corrections and was hired as the first PREA Coordinator for the department in August 2012. He has been with the Agency since 1994. Previously, he was an associate warden at a maximum security prison, and prior to that post, he was the South Carolina Department of Corrections public information officer. In 2015 John was selected by DOJ as one of 48 Auditors to participate in the Field Training Audit Program where a mock audit was completed and the auditors work was critiqued.

Lynette is the Facility Operations Manager for the Wyoming Girls School, a state-operated residential facility for adjudicated delinquent juvenile females. She began her career at the Wyoming Girls School as a case manager and was promoted to the Facility Operations Manager. She has been working in this capacity for 12 years. Lynette has a master’s degree in education, a bachelor’s degree in Sociology/Criminal Justice and was previously an educator in the local school district.

He has 19 years of experience in state government with correctional facilities and programs.

Ross retired from the Seattle Police Department in 2018 after 31 years of service. At the time of his retirement he had supervised the departments Audit and Inspections Detail for nine years. During that time, his work included serving as the departments accreditation manager, and for the final three years as the acting commander of the Audit, Policy and Research Section. Other assignments during his career included work as a sergeant in the Patrol Bureau and Training Section, and as a detective in the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit. Assigned investigations as a detective included criminal investigations of incidents at the county jail.
