Auditor search

Below is a list of all currently certified, previously certified, decertified, suspended, and restricted auditors. Auditor searches can be customized by location and certification status.

Each PREA audit must have one lead DOJ-certified PREA auditor who is responsible for the conduct of the audit and all work products. A lead auditor can employ other DOJ-certified PREA auditors to function as secondary auditors or support staff who are not DOJ-certified auditors. However, it is important to know that auditors who have been decertified or who are on suspension may not participate in PREA audits, nor as an agent of a PREA auditor. (See 34 U.S.C. §30307(e)(8)(B)(i).) An auditor with 'Restricted' status may need permission from the DOJ PREA Management Office to initiate new PREA audits or complete PREA audits in progress.

Agencies and facilities, as well as DOJ-certified PREA auditors seeking audit support staff, are strongly encouraged to check the list for the names of auditors who have been decertified and auditors who are suspended, to ensure that the selected auditor and support staff employed by the auditor are eligible.

Note that auditors who voluntarily surrendered their certification or were not recertified when their three-year certification expired are still eligible to participate in an audit as an agent of a DOJ-certified PREA auditor.

Ms. Harrington retired from the State of Hawaii, Department of Public Safety (PSD) as PSD’s Departmental Human Resources Officer, after more than 34 years of service. During her years of service to PSD, she held several key administrator positions such as the Departmental Human Resources Officer managing 3,000 plus staff, the Intake Service Center Division Administrator managing statewide Pre-trial Services, the Department Litigation Coordination Officer, the Department PREA Coordinator, and as an Employee Due Process Disciplinary Hearings Officer. Ms. Harrington began her correctional career at the State’s largest prison, Halawa Correctional Facility as a Social Worker and Correctional Supervisor for over 250 residents. Ms. Harrington is a licensed Attorney, Court Arbitrator, Labor Arbitrator, Mediator, and CVSA Examiner.

Wanda is currently retired from the US Department of Justice, Bureau of Prisons, where she served for 23 years. During her tenure, she held leadership positions in the Correctional Programs Division at various institutions and Central Office. Vernon was inspector general for the Virginia DJJ from 2004 to 2012, and he was responsible for investigations of physical and sexual abuse, certification of state and local juvenile correctional facilities, and internal audit. Prior to working for DJJ, he retired from the FBI after 31 years as a supervisory special agent; he investigated financial crimes and public corruption. Prior to retirement from a large state correctional agency, Wendy assisted with the development and implementation of PREA initiatives within its correctional facilities. In addition, she was responsible for advising and assisting facility PREA compliance staff to ensure compliance statewide, generally; and for 11 correctional facilities and a health center, specifically. Her assigned facilities comprised various security levels and included the state's reception facilities, female facility, reentry facility, mental health facility and a lockup. Wendy's experience includes assisting facilities to prepare for audits, serving as audit support staff with certified auditors since 2015 and conducting audits after certification in 2018. Following retirement, her experience has expanded to include jail and community confinement facilities. She is proud of this service and completion of 30 years of honorable active and reserve service in the US military. She looks forward to continuing to provide excellent service to assist with PREA compliance throughout the nation.
