The Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) was amended on October 31, 2018 via the United States Parole Commission Extension Act of 2018, or Public Law 115-274. The amendment contains a number of provisions that impact the conduct and oversight of PREA audits and auditors. The PREA Management Office (PMO) within the Bureau of Justice Assistance at the Office of Justice Programs (OJP) of the U.S. Department of Justice is working diligently to implement all of the new requirements in Public Law 115-274. The PMO and the National PREA Resource Center will provide updates as they become available.
