This new webinar, which is being presented jointly by JDI and the PREA Resource Center, will guide police lock-up officials on how to develop – and carry out – plans for responding to sexual abuse in their facilities. The session will offer tips to help facility staff develop a coordinated emergency response plan. There will also be a section devoted to explaining the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) and sexual abuse crisis counseling models, and their effectiveness as tools for preventing and responding to abuse in the police lockup setting.

Expert speakers will address the unique challenges of addressing sexual abuse in police lockups, given their small size and limited staffing, as well as the limited data available on the incidence and dynamics of sexual abuse in this setting. There will be a question-and-answer session at the end of the training.

Who Should Attend:
Local corrections officials, law enforcement, prosecutors, civic and non-profit organizations, treatment professionals, and rape crisis counselors.
